Call for KaSS Forum Session Proposals

The 2nd Forum on Kinesiology and Sport Science, 2026 (KaSS Forum 2026)

The Asian Society of Kinesiology (ASK) is pleased to invite session proposals for the 2nd Forum on Kinesiology and Sport Science 2026 (KaSS Forum 2026), which will be held in conjunction with the ASK 2026 Annual Meeting: the World Congress on Kinesiology and Sport Science (WCKSS 2026) from August 26–28, 2026, in Bali, Indonesia.

KaSS Forum 2026 is a forward-looking academic platform designed to critically examine strategic frameworks for defining and refining core concepts and terminologies in Kinesiology, Sport Science, and Physical Education. The forum emphasizes socio-cultural, historical, and philosophical foundations as essential lenses for advancing disciplinary coherence and future development.

We are currently seeking distinguished scholars and experts whose academic expertise aligns with the KaSS Forum 2026 keynote themes and panel discussion topics, and who can deliver high academic and educational value to a global audience of researchers, educators, practitioners, and the broader public.

Guest speakers will be selected through a competitive proposal review process, and submission of a session proposal is required for consideration as a guest speaker. We kindly ask prospective applicants to carefully review the detailed information below prior to submitting their proposals.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Monday, March 16, 2026 (24:00 Korean Standard Time)

SESSION PROPOSAL GUIDELINES
1. SESSION TYPES
    • Keynote: 40 minutes (including Q/A)
    • Panel Discussion: 10 minutes per topic/person
Comprehensive Discussion & Chair Comment: 60 minutes
2. TOPICAL CATEGORIES:
 Topic for the Keynote:
o Basic Strategies for Developing a Unified Nomenclature in Kinesiology and Sport Science

 Session Topics and Questions for Panel Discussion:
The panel discussion will be organized around the following topics and guiding questions:
     1) Topic #1: Building Consensus on the Conceptual Framework of Research Objects
Guiding Question: What do we study as a discipline? If our research object were to be expressed in a single term, which concept would be most appropriate? How are key concepts such as human movement, physical activity, exercise, and sport interrelated? Can mental or cognitive activities be legitimately included within our research domain? What is the most comprehensive and central keyword that best represents our discipline? Is it appropriate to include activities such as e-sports or chess within the scope of our field?

     2) Topic #2: Reconsidering the Meaning of ¡°Physical¡± in Physical Education and the Appropriateness of the School Subject Title
Guiding Question: What does the term physical signify in Physical Education? Does it encompass both the body and functional bodily activities, or does it primarily refer to physical activity itself? Is Physical Education still an appropriate title for a school subject? As in disciplines such as Science or History, is it feasible to remove the term Education and adopt a subject name that emphasizes body-related activities, such as Physical Activity, Exercise, or Sport? If so, which designation would be most appropriate? Should Health be explicitly included in the subject title, or should it be addressed solely within the curriculum? Finally, should the objectives of Physical Education remain focused primarily on health promotion, or should they be expanded to include quality of life and broader social impacts?

     3) Topic #3: The Age of Artificial Intelligence and Convergence: Defining the Identity of Our Discipline
Guiding Question: As AI becomes increasingly widespread, how will methods for measuring and interpreting physical activity and sport phenomena change? When collaborating with professionals such as physicians or engineers, what constitutes the unique professional domain of our field, and what distinctive expertise do we contribute? What future-oriented research objects and unified academic name can best encompass these transformations and help shape a more promising future for our discipline?
